A team in the middle of it all

The Front End Team is looking for an experienced leader who can bring Capacity to life. This person will have the ability to drive excellence through their team, pushing innovation and quality while providing their developers with the support and guidance they need.

This person will help with prioritization and sprint planning, but the main objective is to lead well. Make sure that sprints are manageable, the team has opportunities to grow and learn and the cross team communication and work is clear and well prioritized.

As an Engineering Manager, Front End you will…

  • Lead a team of 6 front end developers. You will have a large, immediate impact on the shape and direction of the team.

  • Work across teams and functions to help define features that are robust and follow best practices

  • Ensure development projects are completed according to plan and standards through code review

  • Have the opportunity to work with one of the founding members of our engineering team. The stories he can tell!

  • Set 1:1 cadences and speak into the titling framework for the Front End team

  • Ensure KPIs are clearly defined and being met


Within one month, you will…

  • Learn about our mission, our product, our value proposition, our customers, our team and our processes.

  • Closely work with your technical lead to understand the split of responsibilities and how you can partner together to build the most formidable team

  • Virtually meet each person on your team for a casual introductory call.

  • Meet with your supervisor to discuss departmental KPIs

  • Set up your environment and all core dependencies

  • Get up to speed on backlog refinement, sprint retrospectives and planning

  • Join team calls and become familiar with the Capacity cadences and communication

  • Be celebrated for having a few product changes under your belt!


Within three months, you will...

  • Continue to gain experience with our fast-paced development and deployment cycle

  • Participate in the hiring process of future team members

  • Provide Business Intelligence and other internal stakeholders with key insights and feedback on behalf of your team


Within six months, you will…

  • Have a unique perspective to contribute on how the Front End team and Capacity as a whole may improve technical and/or business processes


About You

You are a seasoned technical leader with the proven ability to lead teams who build software solutions at scale. You have navigated the complexities and challenges of developing new products and features. You thrive in a fast paced, challenging environment and strive to understand how all of the unique engineering components work together to meet our customer needs. You love learning new things and enjoy working on a tight-knit team.

Qualifications

  • Experience in leading a team, conducting 1:1s and career pathing conversations

  • Highly proficient in React and Redux, writing efficient and reusable components

  • Experience building responsive and accessible HTML/CSS

  • A love of working with RESTful APIs

  • Development experience with web based Javascript frameworks.

  • A deep understanding of what it means to build a product

  • You are passionate about building highly reliable, secure, maintainable and scalable systems.

  • You are willing to constantly deploy and iterate on your solutions.

  • You look forward to brainstorming sessions, post-mortems and feedback sessions with multi-disciplinary teams.


Bonus if you have:

  • Experience working closely with Engineering, Product and the CEO

  • Experience in enterprise SaaS engineering

  • Proficiency in Python

  • Experience with microservices

  • Deployment and CI (AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins)

  • Elasticsearch



Requirements

Qualifications

  • Experience managing engineering teams in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment

  • Deep understanding of Agile development best practices

  • Very familiar with user interface technologies, good design principles and the nuances of supporting different browsers and mobile platforms

  • Experience building responsive and accessible HTML/CSS

  • Proficient in Javascript language and frameworks, familiarity with React is a major plus

  • A deep understanding of what it means to build a product

  • You are passionate about building highly reliable, secure, maintainable and scalable systems.

  • You look forward to brainstorming sessions, post-mortems and feedback sessions with multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Passionate about quality with a keen attention to detail


Bonus if you have:

  • Experience working closely with Customer Support, Product and the CEO

  • Experience in enterprise SaaS engineering

  • Proficiency in React

  • Previously worked in a hyper-growth startup environment

  • Basic understanding of AI and NLP (or you have a strong desire to learn!)

What is compensation like at Capacity?

  • We offer fully funded medical premiums for each full-time team member and their dependents.
